How to cancel Amazon Prime

Last checked Oct 2026Source: the company's own help page (linked below)

End Prime from your Prime Membership page. If you have not used any benefits, you can get a full refund.

Menu pathYour Account > Prime Membership > Cancel Your Prime Membership > follow the prompts

Steps

  1. Sign in to Amazon.com and open your Prime Membership page (in Your Account).
  2. Choose to cancel (Amazon's page is called Cancel Your Prime Membership) and follow the prompts until you see the cancellation confirmed.
  3. If you get stuck, go to the Customer Service homepage, select Something else under "Can't find what you're looking for?", then select I need help with something else.

Refunds, timing and things to know

  • Refund: paid members who have not used their Prime benefits are eligible for a full refund of the current membership period. Amazon says the refund takes 3 to 5 business days.
  • Amazon's Prime Terms also say that if you cancel within 3 business days of signing up or of your free trial turning into a paid membership, Amazon refunds the full fee, minus the value of benefits used in those days.
  • Prime memberships from a gift code or promo code are not refundable.
  • Channel subscriptions on Prime Video (for example Paramount+) keep going after Prime ends. Cancel those separately.

If someone else bills you

  • If you signed up for Prime through Google Play on Android, cancel through your Google Play subscriptions.
  • If your Prime comes with another company's service, contact that company to cancel.

Save proof. Take a screenshot of the confirmation screen and keep the confirmation email. If you are charged again after canceling, our billing error letter can help.
